Annette Fornos, MD, is a board-certified internist who began practicing at the Osher Center at University of Miami in August 2024. She attended medical school at the University of Miami School of Medicine, completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital, and has been practicing in the greater Miami area for nearly two decades.
Dr. Fornos’ main passion is the interplay among the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems. She works with patients to build specialized health plans to help them manage chronic conditions. She is particularly interested in epigenetics, the study of how environmental and behavioral factors can impact how genes function. “I have always been interested in how lifestyle modifications can change our genetic makeup and improve long-term health outcomes,” said Dr. Fornos. She is also interested in gastrointestinal and mental health, lifestyle, and the role of psychology and spirituality in well-being.
Dr. Fornos has completed several post-graduate functional medicine courses, such as Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, IV and Chelation Therapy, Peptide Therapy, Cardiovascular Disease Advanced Workshop, and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome Workshop. In addition to her passion for functional medicine, Dr. Fornos is a Kundalini Yoga teacher, certified by the Kundalini Research Institute.
In her daily practice, she combines her training modalities into a holistic and individualized approach to root cause medicine. “My training in functional and integrative medicine opened my eyes to holistic medicine. It is a constant learning process inspired by my patients and guided by innovative research,” said Dr. Fornos. “Once you approach health this way, you can never go back.”
