Osher Center for Integrative Health at UW Medicine
Mission
The Osher Center at University of Washington’s mission is to transform healthcare through evidence-based integrative medicine strategies, and to promote well-being, health and healing throughout the lifespan.
Vision
A transformed system of healthcare that empowers patients, families and communities to actively participate in their health journeys through shared decision-making with an interprofessional team of clinicians.
Goals
- Provide education to support the dissemination of knowledge and skills to clinicians and students as well as patients and communities, in order to facilitate the use of integrative healthcare strategies for health promotion and wellbeing.
- Promote research that is pragmatic, innovative and collaborative to inform effective integrative clinical care and integrative medicine education.
- Create clinical healing environments where patients and an interprofessional team of clinicians work together collaboratively to define and pursue health goals.
Our team values integrative medicine and healing modalities that reflect what matters most to patients and populations, learners and teachers; explores their health experiences, and creates new knowledge that is relevant to integrative education and clinical care; and integrates scientific and culturally appropriate methods of discovery.
The Osher Center at the University of Washington was newly established in 2018, with the generous support of the Bernard Osher Foundation.
